Hey All; Well after talking to the wife I have decided to go racing again. So after a long layoff(years) I have decided to go Offroad Short Course racing. It was a real good day with great weather all be it way HOT!!! But a good time was had by all and even the wife went with and had a good time. At least she said so.lol All in all I had quite a bit of rust to shake off since the only track I have been on is in my buds backyard. But that is really just for fun and to test and tune my rigs. But after getting the OK from the wife and the bank account I will try and make all the local offroad races for the rest of the season.

So I went up to the track yesterday and did a practice day since the track is in a county park it is open to the public everyday as long as you clean up after yourself. Drove up early in the AM before it got unbearable and burned threw some batteries as well as a servo and a few plastic servo arms. Time to score some servo savers and some alloy servo arms for the ole race case. After leaving after a few hours of run time I went by the LHS to get a few spares for today and went to get an EZY Up and some new folding chairs.

Spent the better part of all night friday after work prepping my Slash 2X4 and Slash 4X4 for the weekend. Figures I would enter the 4x4 in SC Mod4x4 and the 2X4 in SC Mod classes.I figured 2 classes was more than enough for my first weekend out. Then after reprepping the rigs on Sat night for race day on Sunday I got a good nights sleep in between the butterfly awakenings. :) So we got an early start at 6:30 am wake up call and an hour + drive to the track we got in at 8:45 am just before 9 am practice start time. Got all regestered and signed in as well as my transponder mounted up it was time to qualify.

Did alright in the first qulifier and got in in 7th place about 5 secs off the front runners. Second qulifier went a bit better and got in in 6th place only 4secs out. It was enough for me to make the B main in a 5th starting grid spot. All was good and got a good start and ran clean till the 3rd lap and had to flipped back on all 4's.lol fell back to whatever and put in some good laps.Worked my way back up and got a finishing possition of 4th place in the B main about 17 secs off the top guys and about 4-5 secs off the 3rd place guy. That was in 4X4 Mod class. decided not to run 2x4 mod since I destroyed my servo in Q2 and didn't have a spare with me. Oh well live and learn. Will pack just about everything next time.lol :)

So there you have it fellas.I got a good bit of sunburn on my neck.Only place I didn't put some sunblock. And I forgot my hat. Never again.lol Well here are some pics of my day adventure. Also want to thank Heath for my Mooovalous COWRC prudusts got a good workout and were ther for me when I needed them.L8R,Wrench.

Hey All; Well my second race weekend went off pretty much without a hitch. Well just about.lol Seems my ESC wanted to take a dump on me but it waited till after the main on Sat. night. Whooo. On my cooldown lap it felt a bit notchy over the bumps. Then when I got it back to the pits it didn't want to turn off with the on/off button,I had to unplug the battery to get er' to power down. Then after replugging in the ESC it didn't want to go anywhere just left and right but no forward motion. But I made it through all 3 practice sessions and all 3 heat reaces as well as the mains without breaking anything. Qualified 5th for the B main and finished second and bumped up to the A main and finished 10th in the A main out of 12 entries. Totally stoked about the outcome. Then after getting home at 1am and a 7:30am wakeup alarm for day 2 I decided to not make the trip to Rotunda for Sunday since my A rig was down. If I swapped out and reprogramed my ESC from my 2wd it would have taken me an hour or so. And I got a call from my Brother that my Mom was back in the Hospital with a blood clot and it was pretty serious so I decided to skip the Sunday race after having such a good day on Sat. And not to mention my mind was not on racing anymore at that time. So I stayed close to home and the phone for some updated on me Moms. Glad to say she was sent home tonight and is resting at home comfortably after multiple blood tests and a few sonograms. All our prays have been aswered. Thanks BIG GUY!!! So I just finished boxing up my VLX-3S after talking to Traxxas and it will be shipped out in the AM for replacment. Thanks for all the well wishes over the last month or so from all of my RC forum friends my family really appreciates it SO much. So here are some of the pics I took this weekend at the track in Avon Park. really nice place and awsome people as well. Thanks Keith for all the hospitality.Enjoy fellas.l8r,w.

Knew it was going to be a good day/night when this greated us as we pulled into the track.

@WrenchHead: How old is your esc? I ask because I have 3 slashes (1 4x4 and 2 4x2's) and so far so good.

Hey All; Well I finally got back to racing after some time off. I had to wait for my ESC to be lost and replaced by Traxxas. After loosing it twice, once in house and once in the mail they finally sent me a NIB replacment setup. And some car trouble with the wifes car that doubles as our road trip ride.So this weekend was a JConcepts SuperCup series race in Coral Springs Fla on the east coast just north of Ft. Laud. Not a bad ride across the state about 2hours+ a few mins. And real easy to find actually. The track is tucked into a park in a subdivision behind a school. Have to say it was an awsome facility. The track club had just redesigned the layout and brough in a few tons of fresh Georgia red clay dirt. Was a killer ton of blue groove bite. So much so the 1/8 E buggy guys were chewwing up tires about every 2 sessions out on track. I survived the weekend on a set of tires on each rigs since I tuned it down a bit and had to learn the track. Had no practice at all since I got a late start on Sat. morning. Seems we lost power in the early AM hours so I got up about an hour late to blinking clocks about the house. Oh well time for a battery powered alarm clock for race weekends. lol Live & Learn. Had to use my qualifiers to get used to the layout and track conditions. We had the best weather Florida can offer. Temps in the low 80's and a nice breeze all day long. The JConcepts guys ran an awsome race schedual and we finished up just before sunset at about 7:30 pm with all the A-mains. Man there was some awsome racing all day long. Found myself being a rivited spectator as well as a challenged driver.Figured out I need some new "race oriented" rigs and a ton of practice time. Boy the State level of compition is increadible and there are some seriously talented drivers out there that I would hope to someday strive to emulate in a small way. Still at the bottom of my learning curve with a long way to go. But hey at least it gives me a goal to shoot for next season. This year was mainly a Test & Tune and get used to tracks and racing before next seasons assault. As for my results I am satisfied with a decent weekend. I finished 9th in the A-Main of SC4wd mod and 6th in the B-Main of SC2wd Mod. And I finished every session and race I started, no DNF's this time out. So how about the pictures I took to cap off a great day of racin'. Enjoy .L8R,Wrench.

Looks like a sweet place and not bad for just starting racing either. Figure most of them guys do this muliple times a week and pretty die hard about it, havent raced on a track since back in the days when I worked at the local shops that had indoor tracks but now days I couldnt if I wanted to, one cant drive a real car and 2 im not as good on my feet as I used to so marshalling would be a serious issue :roll

Hey guys thanks for the props. I am satisfied but always want more.lol Hey Sav we had 2 disabled drivers yesterday. 1 guy in a wheelchair and one guy with arm crutches. WE all pitch in and rotate covering corner marshaling duties for them. I covered the corners twice for the guys when asked to step up. It is all good we cover for those that need it.l8r,w.

Hey All; Well we had another race weekend this past weekend. This time in Winter Haven Fl at ExtremeRC Hobby shop & Raceway. Very kool place under the Old Oak trees in the back and side of the hobby shop. Had a great time once again put on by the awsome folks at JConcepts. This was there 3rd or 4th annual Bash. Lots of great racing and people. Had a blast and had some problems but it was all well worth it. Only one problem,... I forgot the battery to my camera in the charger plugged into the wall in my hobby room. Was trying to be smart this time and charge it before I went. Oh well live and learn. Will be making myself a checklist in windows office before the next race. So with that said I was looking forward to a good weekend being that it is my Birthday coming up this week on Weds. It started off with a bang as I got pulled over for speeding only 10 mins. from my garage door. 57 in a 45 is a no no at 6:05 AM in this state troopers eyes. But after a few words and some praying he was cool enough to write me a warning and said to keep the speed on the track and wished me a Happy Bday early and sent me down the road. Whhhewww!!!!! Dodged a bullet and get to keep my safe drivers endorsment. Thanks officer.

Well we had a real nice ride upstate on some nice backroads and arrived a little after 8am.Open practice till 9:30 then registration and qualifiers at 10AM. 2 rounds of qualifiers and a lunch break and onto the mains. We were out the door and on the road at around 5PM. Weather was awsome and even had a cool breeze on and off all day. Applied plenty of sunscreen but didn't really need it. I qualified well at 7th in the Bmain for 2wd Mod SC and 6th in the Amain in 4wd Mod SC. Had a problem with traction all day with the 2wd and was chasing my slipper setting. After 2 1/2 laps into the main my slipper nut came off and I was a lame duck on the back straight. So I DNF'd and came in 10th in the Bmain. So after getting a good start and staying out of trouble I ended up finishing 3rd in the Amain and scored my first ever podium.Waaa Hoooo!!!!!!!!!! And on the cool down lap my rig came up lame on the back straight with a stripped servo gear. Turns out a rock got wedged in there and it just eventually stripped it out just after it was all over. By the hair on my chinny chin chin.lol But I will take it. I had the wife take some pics on her cell phone camera but we seem to be having a hard time getting them to download to our computer. We have to go to Verizon and get a disc with some software they didn't give us with her new phone. But I scored a few shots from the JConcepts fellas and will post em up for you all to see. Also scored a bag full of goodies. Every enty got a free tshirt. And for 3rd I got a set of wheels and tires. Also decided to support the guys at JConcepts and bought a bew body since my 4x4 PE lid is about toast. They also threw in some decals and even gave my wife her tshirt as well. Thanks guys you all ROCK. Looks like my next race will be at the end of Nov. on the 27th at the 4th different track in a row up in Tampa somewhere. Will worry about it when it gets closer. Well that about does it this time fellas. Thans again for all the support and sorry to bore you all to death with my racing hyjinks.L8R,WrenchHead.

Next race will be Nov. 27th in the Tampa area. Probably make it a 2 day weekend and go to Busch gardens on Sunday for some R&R with the wife. Then ther is a series finally in December to finish off the season.l8r,w.

Hey All; Back at it again. Went to Tampa for a JConcept Supercup series race to prep for the Bash being held there next month. It was a great weekend even though my practice day was rained out just as we got there. Did well and enjoyed the weeken alot. Wife and I made a 3 day trip out of it and just had a blast. My results were bot posted yet online and I missed the list before we left. We were time limited since the park closes promptly at 6pm and i walked off the drivers stand at 5:35 and needed to tear down and pack the car. We made it throught he gate at 5;55pm anyone stuck in the park is locked in and camping overnight.lol Well if I got it right I finished 5th or 6th in 4wd SC nod,and 8th or 9th in 2wd SC mod both in the Amains. Will get results from promoter later in the week.So here are the picks since I remembered the camera battery this time.lol l8r,wrench.

Track on Friday just after we arrrived as well as the rain.

I'm no Ford guy but that is a great looking body. I think it's my favorite out of all the excellent ones I've seen you do. Those under-covers are nice too, every vehicle needs them.
