So got a rebate from the phone company that was unexpected and I recently hooked up with a buddy that I hadnt talked to in a few years and hes into crawlers only pretty much (might change after he drove the savage LOL) so wanted to be able to get in on this scene....enter the wraith! Going to set it up as a middle of the road crawler, some crawl speed and some bash speed....looking at a 35t motor. Anyway get more into the details later going to dig in a little but I got a major tooth ache tonight so might get to far hurts!
I love a kit probaly more then running! Been a long time since I built a kit, pretty much last was a brat.

Ok update and wow have it back apart now to do this mod! Wanted to bring the lipo upfront after seeing it done on a few builds and they say it handles alot better soooo.
Here is the battery tray cut in half then fitted in front of the firewall, suks had to trim the center console a bit. On top of this been trying to string the leds which is been fun and still not even close to done with that yet and have more modding to do finish those but need some lexan first.
Now the interesting part, got the Holmes esc today which is a really nice unit! Glad I chose it. PLan I had in my head before it came was to mount it on top of the rx box but wasnt sure it would cause of the hood and had to wait to have it in hand so first thing I checked and it will all fit but obviously cramped, I did away with the top for the rx box and just made a simple lexan one since it has a o-ring for it should do just fine and allows the esc to sit lower....might even look at the dinky hood since the scoop is higher. Issue im wondering about tho is the battery wires, I set the cage on the frame and with wheels turned plenty of room but will have to trim the length of the wires on the lipo for sure between the esc and lipo wire their just to long in this spot...
Other place I saw was sticking the esc back by the motor but I see a wire reach issue for the battery so not sure that will work... :??

Whats under the hood? :tng
Got this done last night pretty simple and bit cooler then the way the manual wants which is just screwing it down so seen a lot of guys doing this mod or using zip ties but I didnt like that way as much, plus this way the hood will stay up on its own since the clamps are tight enough. Just gotta cut the screws a little so it will close fully and figure what stickers go here and oh in the front will be Associated hex screws with the body pin hole in the head so just 2 body pins to remove and your inside to swap out the lipo :righton

Just waterproof its only $10 and its a good piece of mind...

Yuk next build in the book is shocks, I hate shocks..maybe skip this step for a bit and move on lol :??

Probaly not much more then stock for awhile James, this requires all electrics still and then some. Far as the wish list for non essencials....
Beadlocks
Metal diff covers(tweaked one screw hole on the plastic one last night :oop )
metal upper and lower links
metal shock caps
metal knuckles
theirs 2 robinson gears for tranny I want, especially now since I see they are plastic in the kit thought they were metal :omg

Hmm so gonna do the shocks and get it over with but every thread I have read on it the owners say its to stiff out of box so thinking instead of the 30w maybe 25w? Think I have enough...kinda have to use what I got.

IIRC that too stiff is for the RTR setup, kit springs are softer, not sure about the pistons and oil. I'd try the base setup first.

Whats rtr 35w? The kit they call for #3 pistons which are 3 hole they start at 2 up to 6...I did look at springs when ordering from tower and these are softest.
Gotta ask since I see it alot IIrc? lol

Oil dunno...I'd build them as they say and see how it goes. Easy to change oil later. Use the 3 hole pistons.

awesome man. wish i was in on the secrets! :(

saw it coming, and am happy for ya man. looks like a fun kit. too bad there is plastic. its one of the reasons people dont like it because it comes with more plastic parts.

you can make some nice links pretty easily. we have plenty of how-tos on that in here somewhere too.

RR gears will be a must, but with only 35t power i bet you make it pretty far before you even touch the stockers. its when you go 3s with a brushless that gets thinks start chewing eachother.

for waterproof, you can get a decent un waterproof esc and get a nice little project box for them. that should work well. if not i think i told you the BRxl from HH is good. or a FX-r. they are so small you can easily get a tiny box to put them in.

Congrat- & you suck. :tng

I really dig the Wraiths. Seem to be a good balance between crawling & bashing. Just got too many other projects around to spend the dough on one myself.

Looking forward to more build updates.
