Honestly, there is no comparing the 1/10(more like 1/8) Summit to the 1/16. The 1/16 is more or less a 1/16 e-revo. The fullsize summit is an entirely different animal. It has a 2-speed transmission and selectable locking diffs. The wraith is good also, many members here have them or are getting them. It all depends on what you want. This is my opinion on the three, just my opinion.
1/16 summit = basher
1/10 summit = basher/can play on rocks
wraith = scale crawler/can be bashed

I know knote didnt care for the bigger one much and most ive read from others havent been all that impressed with it......
So here is how you approach this,
1. what do you want to do mostly? crawl, bash or?
2. whats your terrain like

The minis are just to small in my opinion they can go fast and thats about it, crawling I cant see them doing much there other then getting stuck alot and irritating your day. If you wanna crawl alot out of your choices get a wraith, now im new to crawlers but I went 2 weekends ago to my first comp and I saw alot of wraiths competing and doing rather well, now i was there and was allowed to just walk the course and play with mine as long as I got out of the way of paying guys but I must say for a mostly stock wraith it did really well....nice thing to is you can still go pretty fast with one to play around. Check out my build thread for more specs...I am using a 35t motor right now and it will scoot in the open stuff nothing like a full blown basher mind you but im thinking about grabbing a fast motor to stick in if we just go out to bash and not crawl.
Anyways there is my suggestion. It took me along time to make the plunge into a crawler I just didnt think it would be fun for me but I was really wrong. I had so much fun that weekend!
Get a wraith and you wont be disappointed. :righton

the guys make good points!. just think about what you are really gonna use it for.

there really isnt any better of a basher than the Summit, it does have lots of moving parts though. but its a fully loaded, do anything you want kind of truck.

the wraith is also a great truck. doesnt have the two speed tranny, but will give you just as much fun out in the woods and on trails.

The 1/16 summit is just a standard 1/16 monster truck. It doesn't have the features of the full-size, so think if it more as an E-Maxx or E-Revo type of R/C.

The full-sized Summit isn't that good at crawling, either. My SCX10 out-crawled the Summit all day long when we were using a gravel-pit / stone yard for running our R/C's. I honestly thought the Summit was a great R/C for my 6-year old son, but didn't like it at all in terms of being a crawler.

If you have the money to pick up a Summit, I'd direct you to the Wraith. It's built by the company that really brought R/C Rock Crawling to where it is today, so you know it's going to be able to get the job done. You can tune them (shocks, tires, weight, ESC settings) for exactly what you want to do. You can make it a fast rock-racer or you can make it a scale crawler, or blend if you like some of both. If you want a good dedicated crawler, look at the Axial XR10 or the RC4WD Bully.

Yes. I love my Honcho kit, and loving my Wraith whenever I finish it. :oop
