This build I did before I joined this forum so I don't have many pics of the progress. It started out as a mid 90's Pede with a rainbow multi colored body. I have converted to a narrowed onroad car. I used rear lower a-arms from a 4tec on the front lowers and 4tec front lower a-arms on the top, and flipped my servo and camber links over for fit.

Image

I trimmed the stock lower rear a-arms for the Pede. I had to both shorten and narrow them for fit. Then I shortened the drive shafts as well.

Image

I had to use different body mounts on the front and I used shocks from a savage on the rear. cut a couple rounds from the springs on the Pede shocks to give some travel to the front suspension. I was using drifting tires on it, but after 3 runs, they were completely bald and showing the foam on the rear. So I went to Losi buggy rims/tires with slicks on the rear..now it hooks up. After melting a few Tamaya connectors I did a 10 AWG wire upgrade on the esc and 12 AWG wet noodles to the motor with Traxxas connectors. I went to a Reedy 19t Radon 30,000 rpm motor, 84t gear and a 24t pinion on the motor. I also added a functional hood scoop and side scoop for high speed cooling. The finished product....a 40+ mph onroad car.

Cool custom build. The pede/slash/rusty/bandit vehicles are so versatile for custom builds. I've seen them built into almost everything. 1/8 buggies, 1/8 onroad cars, 1/5 trophy trucks, even front wheel drives. Not to mention all the sand rails and tube buggies. I'd like to own another someday and build something custom.

I'm thinking of going to a double wind 17t motor next. I'd really like to get up to 60+ mph on a brushed setup (just to feed the ego I guess). I had a larger gear in it, but it took so long to get up to speed due to low torque output from the 19t. I can't afford to go brushless, so I'll make due with brushed for now.

The only problem I have, and can't seem to fix is a roll over problem. The tires grip so well that it doesn't take much to roll it. And as I'm sure you all know how brutal a roll is at high speeds. But on the plus side my custom rear lower a-arms that I made out of the Pede a-arms are crazy strong. They're at least twice as thick as the arms for on road cars. Any ideas are welcome. Maybe my c.o.g. is too high. Maybe move the batt. and esc to a tray under the original pan and do away with the front and rear braces???

def try to move the battery lower if you can.

only other thing to do is stiffen the springs. or... lower the springs. you can do that by cutting a few links off the springs.

or get some tires that dont bite so much.

I've adjusted the springs up and down, I've put more and less angle on them. It helped some. But on the tires I've tried drifting wheels and tires, but I can only get like 3-4 runs out of it due to wheel spin...so bad the foam starts showing. Plus it's really hard to drive. All it wants to do is spin and slide around, awesome donut machine. Really hard to take off with it. I think I'm going to try moving all the electronics to a tray between the front and rear end.

well, you will get tons of spin outs with a nice long rear wheel drive like that. if you can try to move the weight more forawrd too. that might help a little bit.

you probably won't ever have it drive like a real car though just because all the power is in the rear. and so is the weight.

but it will be a fun car!

I got my second platform completed for the Pede. I moved the battery undernieth and the rest of the electronics down about a inch or so. Made a HUGE difference. Now it powerslides instead of barrel rolling out of control. I'll have pics and a video posted soon.

Yup. I bent a old license plate and then trimmed around the suspension. Taped the edges so I don't get. I took some old front body mounts frommy Pede and cut them down to get the posts. Drilled two holes in the license plate and glued the mounts in place from the outside of the tray. I then moved my Esc and reciever into what was the battery tray. Made a small bracket out of a plastice license plate and screwed it in place to hold down my Esc, and zip tied my reciever down to what was the esc bracket.

I duct taped some foam strips inside the tray to protect the battery. Between leaving the front and rear braces/skid gaurds in place and the foam strips, the battery is protected but not covered. It still gets air flow thru the openings for the steering and suspenion.

It handles great, it power slides instead of flipping and drifts for about 7-8 ft before it hooks up. I'll have to get some video of it. But it feels a little heavy. I may swap out my aluminum license plate for some lexan or I even thought about using a soda pop bottle to shrink form a tray out of the existing tray. Seen that done once by a guy on some axles. :cheers

I have, it seems beyond repair, the only problem is that a roll of the above problems. So good tire grip, it does not cost too much introduction. I think we all know how cruel of a roll, at high speeds. But the Canadian side of my custom rear lower a weapon, a weapon I Pede crazy strong. Road vehicles at least twice as thick as they embrace. Any ideas are welcome. I even c.o.g. too high. Perhaps moving cotton. And ESC tray under the original pot, not with the front and rear braces?
