OK so I'm sure some of you saw my chat post a week ago, but this goes more in depth. About a week ago, I was at the mall picking up something for my brother when I passed a booth labeled "Helicopter Land". This guy was selling little cheap co-axial helis & doing demonstrations and impressing people. Only problem was, he was trying to sell 'em for WAAAYYY more than they're worth. For example, he was trying to sell a Syma 3.5-channel co-axial for $60. I just recently found the exact same heli on Nitroplanes for only $30 (right now on sale for $16). He also tried selling to a guy a Double Horse 9100 for $300 (goes for $50) and then made him a "one time" offer of throwing the little Syma for free. Luckily for the guy, he declined because even he knew that $300 was too much for a cheapy. To that I say NO THANKS, I'll do my research before I buy!

P.S. If you have a story of rotten selling taking place, go ahead & post it!

profit is not a 4 letter word my friend. :) But in the same note I'll bring up a old saying, Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. There's no sense in trying to tax someone that much. Maybe double your money, but anything over that and you're boardering full blown crook.

lol yeah well they don't care how many letters it's spelled with, they just want more money for less expense. The only way he's able to get away with those prices is because just about every person passing by there is clueless about price. Yeah doubling it would be the max, and even then I'd say you were a bit greedy. 75% profit would sound more reasonable.

I won't fault the guys for trying to make a big profit. Its the buyers responsibility to research & make a decision on where to spend thier buck. And impulse buys at a shopping mall are almost always a bad deal for the buyer.

i agree with what everyone is saying but its called free enterprise. and being this time of year its the impulse buys from the clueless ones that will put bucks in his pockets. unfortunately not everyone does research before a purchase and some being clueless in the rc world only benefits him.

I just hate seeing sneaky businessmen and how they take advantage of others, I prefer fair & honorable business. Just like with Bill & his lights, he's fair and he does a great job with 'em. That's why I try to spread his name out there every time the topic of RC lights comes up.

It sucks to see people get ripped off, but it's always up to the consumer to know what they are getting and what they should pay. Heck, I walked out of a gun show a few months back with a Kabar and was excited as could be. Then, research showed that the knife was not in the right sheath or box. It's still a great knife, but I paid $20 too much for it, and it's because I made an impulse buy. My fault, but that guy will never get my business again.
