i am interested in seeing this. and also wondering if it is just too much engineering. it will be fun though!

Not sure if I follow the over engineering thing. What do you guys mean? Are you guys thinking I should just leave it alone and run it, or that there is a issue or problem in doing this? I know that by doing this it will affect my COG some.

just keeping in the mind the old KISS acronym. i have no problem with over engineering something at all. its actually cool!!

just that more parts there are, the more parts break :) so maybe design this so that if it does break in the fied you can quickly revert to the stock setup.

I've got her setup so that if it breaks it wont be noticable at all. The rig doesn't rely on it for anything other than gaining a inch clearance in the rear. Plus it's mainly attached with zipties so they can be cut loose and the link unthreaded in the field easily. I used the ties so that I would have some give in the setup. I figured it's better to have some give and loose a 1/4" of lift verses being locked down and ruining a servo. BTW I recieved 2 sets of replacement gears in the mail from Redcat. Awesome customer service. :righton

yeah, i like the KISS method too. But this is just way to cool to leave alone. Even the wife said it was cool. I figure another situation which it'll help is one I ran into the last time out. My nephew and I hit a deep mud puddle with the Dawgs installed (I shoulda brought my tractor tires). It kept getting deeper and at one point I was to far in to back out, and to far in the puddle to step in to get it without losing a shoe. In theory, that extra inch could have made the difference in driving right out. And since the servos mounted up so high it'd be out of harms way. Instead the rig shut down completely and my nephew took one for the team and lost his shoe, lol.

I just felt it was a set up that wasn't really needed to make the rig perform better. Rather than set that system up, I'd have changed the mounting system. But I'm like that with most vehicular situations- the simpler, the better. When it comes to cars, I'll take an old '49 Chevy Fleetline set up with a straight axle, a dual carbed big block, & no power anything long before I'd take the keys to a new Corvette.

But the differences in projects is what keeps things interesting around here, so if you like your RC raising & lowering on command- don't worry 'bout my input.

Here are some pics. These were taken at the mock up stage. Once I get it perfected or decide to scrap the idea all together, finished product pics will follow.

After I had taken these last pics I found out I was actually lowering the susp by 1/4 due to having my servo saver in the wrong position, that and my trim was way out.

So here are a few pics of progress so far. I redesigned the RHC system. I used the rear steer servo and mount and just ran a link up to the chassis spacer. I've got to either move my shocks forward some or find some much longer shocks. I'm maxed out on lift and I can still get a half inch or better out of the current config. I locked out the rear with some camber links I got from Savage. Works like a charm. But enough talk, here are the pics.

As you can see here, I'm not getting the lift I want because the shocks are limiting my travel. I can either move the lower mounts for the shocks forward, or get some longer shafts in these shocks. I haven't decided which way to go yet.

I'm thinking new upper shocks mounts that wont allow the shock mounts to go up, but will allow them to swing down. Kinda like a swing arm with a bump stop at the top of the frame. This would allow the arms to drop down further to get the clearance I'm wanting, but not go up any higher to lose clearance when the servo isn't on. Make sense? My goal here is to gain two inches, but if I squeeze out 1.5" I'll be happy.

Lol Jeff. Air shocks or drop shackles on the back...some big ol M50's. :punk

I was informed by my co-workers that it's not bad@ss until I get the front to do the same thing. So I'm hunting down small, stiff springs to go on the front and rear. I drove it on the rocks last night. It did fine and the RHC helped me out of alot of holes in the rocks. But it's definately to stiff. So it's back to the drawing board to get the front mocked up and find some new springs.

Come to West Virginia, it's about a 20 year lag here. There's guys doing that to 90's mustangs and camaros. Not to mention all the mullets you see.

im suprised ur still using the stock servos, mine stripped out the day i got it, on a pillow! lol upgraded now tho, everything else bone stock with quick mods, and no foams, cut the tires a little, and extended the frame with aluminum for a little added weight. :)

I'm only using the stocker on the rear. It is still going strong. I stripped out the front servo after a couple weeks I think.
