No real progress on this, but I did learn a neat trick on microtforum. Guy used a 1s lipo to power his LEDs. Most LEDs are meant for around 4.5V(x3 alkaline batts) unless you get them in a kit with resistors already wired in. I was skeptical that the lower voltage of the 1s cell would work, but it does. I took it a step further and wired up an old cellphone battery which is 1s(3.7v) lithium ion, 1000 mah too. It works great and is much less bulky than a 9V that many use to power onboard lights. I find little things like this cool and thought I'd share. :righton

I was thinking more along the lines of the po-boy sandwich from popeye's. Wish we had a popeyes around here.

Ran this thing a little this evening. Those hard tamiya tires and 2wd aren't the best, but it surprised me. For a mini front suspension and only a 27T silver can, it drove well. The lack of traction and speed kept it on all 4, and sometimes 3 or 2, tires. But it's more of a looker than a performer. Better tires or a faster motor might break the equilibrium, so from here on I'll just add scale touches.

Interesting project. I'd never noticed this thread before- then I saw the original post dates. Nice looking bug.

Yeah, it was a much cooler idea before Tamiya went and re-released the real scorcher. You can get the whole styrene body set for it for around $40. I may do that for this chassis eventually to have a shelf body.
