I got this in a trade today. I've found out so fasr that it has all Airtronics servos and 7 channel RX. It has a O.S. Surpass I FS-91 engine. I got it from one of my old bosses who flew it into a cornfield on his maiden flight and broke off one of the wings. I know nothing about it at all other than a motor like this appears to be worth around $150-ish. He says he still has the TX and starter for it that I'll be getting at a later date along with some more RC goodies. But enough chit chat, here's the plane.

looks nice man. you gonna try to fix that? its not easy fixing a plane. specially when you weren't the one to build it. i guess you could build a whole new wing for it.

what are you plans? what is the original wing span?

looks like those motors go for about $300 brand new.

I'm not into flying at all. I probably wont mess with trying to fix it. I'm thinking about selling/trading it or at least parting it out. I've thought about a prop boat too, might be cool. It has great comp and is complete as far as the engine goes. The exhaust appears to have a extension on it to get it underneith the nose. I took the glow plug out and put a few drops of after run oil in it and spun the prop a couple times. All seems normal. Hesays he bought it new and on take off he nose dived into a cornfield.

looks good man, the motor is probably the only thing you could get money for. the airframe is kindling now. there might be some good hardware in there too, i bet the servos are just standard though.

Kinda what I thought. My wife said hang it up like it's crashed thru the ceiling. I posted it up in the for sale or trade section. The servos sell for around $10 a piece new and the RX for around $15. The engine is where it's at. I'm wanting to build a straight axle FOFF. So it's either sell it, or trade it off for the parts to build one, whichever comes first. I'm gonna post it here for a week and then sell it on Ebay I think.

I checked them out, and it doesn't look like they're getting much attention. I just posted it for sell on Ebay. I need to get as much as I can out of it so I can fund my next project hopefully. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0649903235 Who knows what it'll bring, but I can't lose no matter how it goes. :righton

I don't mind at all bub. I've got a guy wanting to buy the plane from me. He pm'd me on Ebay asking if it was for sale too. Evidently it's a Corsair?

yeah, i was gonna tell you what it was, but i thought you knew...

F4U corsair to be exact. one of fastest planes built during WWII the wing is shape like that because the full size had sucha bug engine and require such a large prop the had to raise the nose buy reshaping the wing.

well well well...I had no clue what it was until he asked and called it a Corsair. I'm hoping to get enough to fund a straight axle FOFF build up. I remember seeing them when I was a kid at the demolition derby with my dad. There was one that wsa a Jeep, white in color with Money Pit in gold leaf and red pinstriping. I'd love to duplicate that rig. It was one of the few moments I remember as a kid growing up. It would be like a 8 yr old Christmas all over again if I could build one. I didnt get to see much of my dad, so those few moments really strike a cord with me. Hell I'm getting teary eyed just thinking about it.

very cool man. a foff rig would be awesome. i think any used crawler would work well for that. you would just have to lower the chassis, and shorten the arms some so you dont get lots of articulation.

i do all this hobby stuff cause of my dad too. he left about 5 years ago, and no has heard from him since. its just something to hold onto i guess.

thats what I'm hoping to buy. I figure a used crawler, some short links in the rear, lower it and put some paddle tires on her. But it'll have to be a shafty. So I'm hoping to score a 1/10 but I guess a Losi 1/18 would work. I gotta get enough outa this plane and engine first though.
