Yep, as in Scooby Doo & the gang's hippie van! :punk

My 9 yr old is heavy into Scooby, so I set out to build her a mini Mystery Machine. Polar Lights makes a "1/24" scale snap kit w/ a couple figures. I bought one, then grabbed a cheap $10 New Bright as a chassis donor:

I popped the 2 screws off that held the body on, then set the floor pan of the van in place. I had to chop a hole in the pan to clear the electrics:

Simplicity was my main goal here. I wanted to mount the body securely, but make it easily removeable if needed. After a little thought, & knowing how slow the New Bright was, I figured a few well-placed holes & some twisted wire would do the trick:

Good thing I did it that way. I ended up having to cut the pan loose to mount the body to it. With the RC chassis, I didn't have the clearance to slip the pan in the way it needed to go. Snapped the body in place, got some more wire & re-attached it.

Originally I had planned for it to look more scale (One of those Maisto 1/24 RC's at WalMart was supposed to be the chassis donor). After I bought the kit & opened it, I realized my idea wasn't gonna work too easily. The van has a 3" wheelbase, & its about 3-1/2" wide by 6" long- way goofy dimensions. So I grabbed the New Bright w/ yellow wheels & built a caricature version instead. Thanks for the compliments.
