Decided after all the reading here and vids mostly watching Will's :tmb I bought the parts needed to convert it. I know their like $200 ready to go but I had the mamba in it, FLM tranny case and metal gears, cvds, spektrum, wide conversion. I just liked the bigger platform so I know this may not be 100% corr look but soon as the body shows up (new proline desert rat) i will be able to tell how it will look more. I am running masher 2ks so im guessing the wheels are gonna stick out a bit but like I said I just liked the larger platform, always have liked a bigger sized rc.
Anyrate its not entirely done but thought I would share, just waiting on the bumpers, servo and body. I had AE bouncers on it but stole those to put on the clod so found these from HPI Firestorm and were the same size, I use rear shocks on all 4 corners due to the front being wider. Got the shocks new for $8 a pair so cant beat that. Some pics of what I got so far.

Here is what I got done last night, shocks on the rear. They are nice, I put 35w in them and 2 blue AE springs but I think reds would be better. My bumpers will be here tomorrow according to the PO so soon as those come I can get the front finished up. Dont wanna put more on the front incase installing the servo I need to take it back off again lol.
I trimmed those 2 pieces sticking up for the stock esc to rest on then cut a plate out of some carbon fiber for the mamba esc mount.

Bumper set came but no servo! Then my body was backordered from rc planet when they did not show it out of stock, I was going for the desert rat so not sure what to do there...Probalyjust get the Hardcore.
So the roller is complete pretty much, shocks on and everything. The HPI shocks are really nice and only need a couple shims to fit good. Just need some stiffer springs for the rear I think but i will know more once its ran.umper or leave the wheelie bar, the bumper looks good, maybe once the body is on I figure it out.
Not sure still if I want to go with a rear b

Couple updates, finally got a servo. So all the electrics are in, since the spektrum antenna wire comes out from the top of the rx I just drilled a hole in the top of the cover and a little show goo should keep everything dry. Got some nice battery foam off ebay from a seller and now my lipos stay nice and snug with the brace in place. Just got done putting on the Losi 4257 sway bar kit for the xxx-4. Oh and stuck on the rear bumper instead of the wheelie bar.

Now to the good stuff, took it out today for some run time. First this handles sooo much better then as a pede, I really love it. Wheelies were alot less which surprised me. Got some body rubbing still on the tires so gotta work on that. Not sure if its cause of the sway bar or not but its not as loose handling, used to loose rear traction alot and now its pretty well planted.

Different look. Not sure I will get to use these this year, not looking promising so may just sell em. I dont really want the blue rims now, bought these few months ago before I decided to convert so blue was ok on the pede. I was browsing Proline last night and im really digging the new beadlocks they have coming soon so those are at the top of the want list.

Little update, got my epic beadlocks and flat-iron tires. The fronts are rear rims since im not into the scale thing I stayed with the wide look, just handles better. These are a tad narrower then the mashers and just a hair taller, the beadlocks seem good but some runtime will tell on that. The tires are kool, nice and grippy :tmb

Nothing havent seen many times but a thread update anyways lol, hoped I got these to but maybe tomorrow. The RPM mount rocks, this is what you call a downgrade lol yes I had the FLM aluminum tranny case but I liked the mount enough to part with it plus this is lighter so maybe less wheelies to.

My other upgrade I was keeping under wraps till I got it, another find strc part. Looks like my other project has taken a step backwards, got screwed by a guy on rctech so the next upgrade will be a tad longer now >:(

Got one of the items I have ben waiting on! The hero cam. Still got another package to finish this up im waiting on, better be here today. Anyrate pretty slick cam and here is a bonus for you guys, head to ebay and look up go pro and you will find the other models they sell well I found out the Motorsport's HERO GO PRO Wide is the same as the midel Traxxas is advertising, I even sent a email to gopro asking to make sure and here was the reply:
"The R/C HERO advertised by Traxxas does include the same Wide HERO camera included in the Motorsports HERO Wide. The main difference between the 2 kits is that the R/C HERO wont include the suction cup mount."
And here is the real bonus you can get this model for around $40 cheaper then the one traxxas has since those are around $180 and I got this one for $140 shipped :punk
Matter fact here is the seller.
http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/honda_pow ... omZQQ_mdoZ
Now I think I will have to tweak my body cause the cam is a tad to low to fully see out the window cause I think the Traxxas lid has a larger window vs the prolines.
The new RPM skids are awesome, the front ones you dont have to use the upper screws that go through the bellcranks so makes for a faster tear down. I am also thinking about going back to the stock length arms in the front but waiting for the new rubber to show up before I decide.

I keep having roadblocks put in front of me, first was the cvds having the wrong axle in it then when I went to put the good one in last night I found out the arms im using (pede arms) are longer then slash arms I was not aware that pede arms were longer so ran to the lhs and got a set of slash rear arms and wow it is a difference in width I am getting pics right now. So im now debating on either get 2 replacement bones for my pede cvds and keep it wide like I want or leave it as it is now which you will see in a minute. The other thing is the front end it if coarse has rear pede arms to so it is now much wider then the rear I had to tap the inserts on those integy adapters as well since they had no interest in including 2 extra inserts threaded 8/32 so soon as money allows im getting the extreme set.

Great customer service, love companies like that. Just makes the average company that doesn't care look that much worse doesn't it?
