hey guys,
here is my latest project that i am slowly working on. the new job and living in washington DC kinda cuts into the RC time.
here goes:

i apologize before hand for the picture quality. in the move my camera got lost, so this is using a blackberry.

Kyosho MP7.5
chassis cut in half and reversed to give a bit more room upfront.
slid the center diff to the right by one diff width, (so a motor can go low on the chassis.
rear solid axle: (the cool part)
twin force short side centers, gets the width pretty much perfect.
custom center link mount: (i owe the design to the guys on rccrawler)
the lower link mounts are going to be longer links from the 7.5 ST
the mounts i made are from some 3mm carbon fiber sheet i had laying around.
also locked the knuckles with a bit of angle stock. need to clean that up some to make it pretty.

doodled it on sketchup.

Smart link mounts on the rear axle. Get a move on, I want to see this thing run.

Nice lockouts on the rear. With so much RTR and kit building going on these days, I've been starved for hand build projects. That's what got me into RC and crawling way back when, because just about everything had to be made by hand or at least sourced from other models.

Afraid I don't. I just try local hardware stores and scrap, I have an old car amplifier for example, haha. 1/8" might be easier to find than metric also. I make a lot of things from 1/8" thick by 2" wide strap aluminum from Lowe's.

yeah, i use that stuff too. its not very structural for what i am looking for though. its a pretty soft alloy when it comes to aluminum.
ive got some 1/4" stuff. that is much tougher, but man its some thick stuff.

Be interesting to see this one done and running for sure. What did you use to draw up the sketch? I tried playing with autocad recently and omg it about burned every brain cell I had left lol.
So this bumper measurements you need not totally following, at the mounting holes where it attaches to the bulkheads you want it measured from the inside?

i'm sure wrench will show up soon!

made one cut and a little drawing. i think this could be a good shape for the vertical plate.
there will be a "table" so to speak about half way up where you can see the dotted lines on the drawing. this will be where the ESC will go, it wil also make the CF side much stronger.
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/1_25_1460_1374/products_id/163378/n/Kyosho-Chassis-Joint-Set
those things will be used to mount the table and also to mount the vertical paltes to the chassis. i'll buy a couple sets of them.

its a beast to cut. i use a hack saw. thing is it gets all over the place. its a HUGE carcinogen material. and the little glass parts make me itch like crazy for hours after cutting it.

other than that its great :)

i've met a few guys online with CNC machines to cut this stuff, but I'm cheapo and am going to cut it myself, (and probably screw it up. :)

Nice work there MJ. So you need some numbers tossed your way. Sure thing. Let me get the rig and the calipers out and see what I can come up with for you.

I wonder if some kind of fluid could be used to cut down on the dust when cutting?

i could pour water on it while cutting, but then i would need some sort of shop vac in my apt. have you seen the new shopvac's attachments that turn a 5 gallon bucket into a shopvac. would be pretty sweet.
