So I picked up a awesome deal on a Proline Tuber with a custom delrin chassis and body panels. I didnt get any picks in its previous state, but it was in fair condition. If I told you what I gave for it you'd call me a liar, so we'll move right along with the pics.
I didnt really like the side panels being painted. I figured the rocks would have a field day with the exterior paint on these, so I replaced them with aluminum flashing.
Image
Image
I used a bumper/stinger I made for my F150 shell on the front. I had some screen left over from my Police Wolverine build and made a grille and bumper plate out of it.
Image
I hinged the hood and roof for easy acces to the electronics.
Image
I assembled my shocks and started gathering parts up for the build. I've got a 27t Epic that'll work for now. I have a Axial ax10 trans comin soon, SS rear hich clearance delrin lower links, some AX10 beadlocks with "Gambler" rings (to go with the lucky lady theme) and a set of Venom axles. I'm on the hunt for some tires, esc and another GT3B rx.
Image
Here's the side shot, lookin pretty damn good I think.
Image

I'd really like to scratch up a Wild Willy Tamiya driver to go with it, or a proline interior, but I have bigger fish to fry with this rig first. So what do you guys think? Anybody got some 2.2 tires for sell for around $20?

Nice, I always liked those plastic tubers. What the really need to make is a modular plastic tubing setup so you could make your own unique plastic tube chassis.

I have evrything I need to complete the ride cept for the esc and gt3 rx. I forgot to mention I picked up the servo you guys pointed out to me the other day. My buddy Taurus and I have a competition going to see who can make it to the top of this very steep 40+ft tall rock hill behind his house. Its a overpass I think. But either way...Taurus, if you're reading this it's on and poppin son. School is about to be in session.

I got my Venom axles in last night. Nice and tight. I greased em up and started installing links on the front. I cant get my lengths worked out for proper travel though. I think my upper links are to short. Which esc is better?
1)Maxstone Exceed esc with drag brake
2)Novak XRS esc
3)axial stock esc (not sure if ae-1 or ae-2)

nope. I've got to get some links for it. Just bought a RC4WD esc for it too. But yeah. All I've got left is links and shes all done. I've got Nate drumming up some decals for the side plates. A Lady Luck Pinup girl ordered for the roof as well. This thing's gonna be awesome. The link length is a mystery to me. I'm going to guess at it I suppose.

Bottom links set wheelbase(roughly) and top links set pinion angle.

but where do I mount the upper links in relation to the lowers? Do my uppers/lowers need to be around the same length? Basically, whats the general rule of thumb for picking out links?

i like to set the chassis mounts on the same level. this will always keep the pinion pointed at the center diff.

Well, the hill at Taurus' house is a beast. Very difficult to navigate with alot of hole for your tires to get stuck in. I managed to wrap about 5 lbs of mud, weeds, sticks and gravel around my axles. It has me thinking about dismanteling the redcat too. But any ways. I found out the chassis is a Kamikaze Kustom chassis. I've got the trans in and a list of parts that my wife doesnt know I bought ordered. I'm leary on the shocks. They look good, but I dont know if they'll actually help any. I figure they might help offset some upper weight to get my COG lower. But enough talk, here are some pics.

Check out m venom creeper thread to see how to get a full 52 degrees of steering out of stock axles. The stock CVDs will handle it, but they didn't machine the long side shaft properly so it needs some filing to match the short side.

I'll look into that Jamus. I'm going to swap out the front links and shocks I think. I've got some bent Axial links coming, a Robotics servo horn and a Hitech MG servo and a Novak 55T too. I ended up buying some Integy air shocks for this build. Something about those shocks I dont like. I think that it's extra weight thats not needed, it justs has me questioning them everytime I look at it. Thats why I posted them on here to see the response.

lmao. Thanks for bringing that up Savage. None of us made it more than 10 ft from the base. But as far as damage goes, all I did was mess up my snorkel on the Redcat and lose a body clip. There are alot of holes just big enough for a tire to drop in and snap a axle. I replaced my drive pins with hardened drill bits after the last outing and they held great. Had enough torque and holding power to flip the rig over. I'm thinking about going comp with it. I'm almost tired of it in it's current "scale" configuration. I've got alot of goodies coming in, you guys just might see another moa build on here...maybe.
