So I picked up a 1/10 drifter the other day on Ebay. It looks real clean and well kept. I've been working on the goodies for it and so far this is whats either coming or laying on the workbench waiting.

Traxxas 5XL waterproof esc
Turnigy Nanotech 4300mah 2S 25c-50c lipo
Speed Gems 15T brushed motor
FlySky GT3BRX
a few other alloy hopups that came with the car.

I know it's not been ran much because the seller states he's went through 2 sets of rubbers and it's got a new set on it. I'll be looking to keep a set of both plastic and rubber on hand. I know from my Pede conversion that the rubber tires go FAST.

No pics? Is HSP one of the knockoff companies like redcat, exceed, etc?

looks kinda like a knock off of a Academy str-4
https://www.google.com/search?q=academy ... 40&bih=771

maybe not though. really just a nice cheap knock-off that will be fun as hell with a 15t motor. BTW sent you a PM.

i say use the silverado. might as well stick with the truck theme.

ps, def not a tamiya, or a tamiya knock-off. just nothing there that says tamiya to me.

you can make drifting tires with PVC pipe.

HSP is in that group of exceed/redcat/himoto. It looks identical to my redcat vortex but with shorter suspension arms. Mine holds up to offroad use so for onroad drifting it's probably bulletproof.

well, it's official. I've got the complete car ordered and on it's way. Being that I sell Chevy and have strong ties in the Tri-state Corvette club, the vote amongst those who cared was the Vette. Plus being that I've wanted one since I was old enough to know what they are, I figure this is as close as I'll get until my kids move out. So, I've got a HPI C6 Vette coming, metallic black Pactra paint, and deep dish chrome 12 spoke rims with a red lip. She'll be called The Black Dragon. I've got a certain Vette that I special ordered for a very good customer of mine that I will be making a scale copy of. Everything except for the red lip to be exact. I've got to come up with a lexan interior now.

So I got the car, two bodies and my Turnigy lipo in last night. I removed the motor, it came with a Epic 27T, and installed the esc and got my velcro ready for my RX to come in. Here's how she sits so far.

I have been all over this thing. It's shaft driven and seems very sturdy. I did find out what brand it is. It's a Yokomo MR4TC SD CGM touring/drifter.

nice brand there man! good stuff.

oh , those are narrow style tires you have on there too, not sure why they arent normal ones, but it came like that. those are also the best all round bashing tires you can get. HPI x patterns are really grippy and last quite a while. could be fun for some parking lot speed runs on 3s.

any plans for making drift tires yet?

Nice score. Always liked my drifter rig. Really like the Vette styling as well. Never owned a Yokomo chassis byt aloy of the drifter forum guys use them. Looks like you'll have some fun times tearing up some PVC. l8r,w.

My charger came in yesterday, along with my 15t Speed Gem w/ heatsink (thanks to MJ), my voltage meter, crawler lipo and my new Corvette body. Here are the pics.
Image
Image
I've got the Turnigy 4500mah 2S Nanotech for the drifter, the 2200 mah 2S for my crawler and the big boy 5000mah 3S for my FOFF. The Vette body is looking sick.
Image

My Pactra Metallic Black should be in from RCBoys before long. I'm going to go for the Grand Sport Corvette version. So I'll be adding the red "hash marks" on the side of the drivers front fender.
Image
One cool thing about this body is that the headlight bucket is recessed and seperate from the rest of the body.
Image
This will make installing my LEDs from Bill alot easier and more realistic as well.
I've got wheels and tires coming soon.

Anyone got some wide rubber touring tires?

Just found out I ordered 6mm offset rims :( So I picked up some black 10 spokes with a chrome lip and some 26mm wide hpi X pattern tires. I havent ran it yet. I'm waiting for my RX to come in, it should be in the mailbox when I get home. I plan on burning rubber tommorrow. I finaly have all my components and the charger for this rig and the FOFF. Time to find the weak spots

sounds like its gonna be a parking lot basher to start. fun stuff man. you'll love it. if you get onto a lot that is a little dusty or gravelly you get some good powerslides going, that is always what i like to do.

I ran it yesterday for a little outside. It's very quick. Does donuts on a dime and is very stable. The big problem I have is noise from the pinion/spur gears. It's a metallic ringing noise. I may just be that it's going to make this noise no matter what. I got the Vette body finished except for my LEDs and mirrors. I've gotta scratch up some scale mirrors for the doors. I messed up on my light buckets by painting the turn signals on these. But they're already installed and glued in place. I'll get some picks up once I get it completed.

sounds like you have the mesh too tight on the spur and pinion. there should be a small but of slop.

can you do a run-up video with the sound in your shop? maybe hearing it will help us diagnose it.

bet its quicker than most other things you have driven. glad its fun man, on road cars are always fun when there is a good parking lot around.

I don't think it's to tight. I made sure to leave a little play. It's almost like a ringing noise. Both gears are metal. It's quick, but not as quick as the FOFF. I'm going to run it at the dealership lot tommorow and see what kind of speed I can get. I finished the Vette body.
Image
Image

I got my LEDs from Bills in the mail and got them installed. I used the bezels in the front and used the larger 5mm ones for exhaust tips in the rear.
Image
Image

So what do you guys think?

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looks killer man. Nice ride. Enjoy the new rig. Metal on metal gears will do that high pitched ringing sounds. Normal opperation for that type of setup.l8r,w.
