Right place at the right time, dude needed cigarette money. He was going to haul it for scrap. We hauled it home by putting the front bumper overtop my buddies trailer hitch ball and ratchet strapping it. Only about 1/4 mile of main road but still funny.

Got it home last night. No wiring or electronics at all. Not much in the way of cables/controls. The recoil is missing, the seat and a spare rearend are supposed to come once he finds them. Bet I have to track the guy down and hound him to get that. Still, I'm very pleased with the starting point.

No clue, if it was a mower engine I'd say yes. However an atv motor is more complex. I found the Kawi manual in pdf online, so that will help. First thing is to find out why the motor is "locked up" and go from there. I'm betting it was installation error when the topend was switched.

oh. so they rebuilt the engine and screwed it up?

not cool.

i rebuilt a suzi gs 450 with my brother. smaller engines are kinda nice to work on.

what about just putting a nice B&S mower in there. you can do it!@

Rebuilt isn't really the word I'd use. I'm a do it right or not at all kind of guy when it comes to this stuff. Junk parts and reusing gaskets isn't my style. Briggs repower might be an option if it was a chain drive axle, but it's shaft driven with the transmission built into the engine. It won't be hard, but might be more expensive than I'm used to. A 350 is probably cheaper to build than these small motors.
