I'm moving to a new place in a couple weeks and there's a pond out behind the house. So I'm gonna get a boat.

At first I thought Traxxas Titan VXL all the way!... then I saw a video and realized how big and fast they are (or can be) and I'm thinking it's a little too big for this pond.
Not that I wouldn't do it anyway, I also saw how much they are and I'd rather start off with something more affordable. They're nearly $400 before shipping.

I looked at the Traxxas Villain EX. More affordable but brushed motors, dual pack (or single, whatever).

Then I found the Pro Boat Shockwave 26.
It's like $10 more and 5" shorter than the Villain EX (31") but is brushless, water cooled, single-pack and comes with 2.4Ghz Spektrum marine rx (the radio looks like a Losi 2.4Ghz).
If you update your Spektrum radio to marine, uh, info... you can bind and use that.

Just so everyone can get an idea of where I'll be boating...
(this isn't the exact house I'll be in, but it's the same development and same pond)

If it's too hot out, I can sit inside and drive my boat.
Gonna have to rig up an off-road trailer setup so I can tow it to and from the water with one of my trucks.

No boat expert only had one many many years ago a miss budweiser and man did it blow hardly moved at all lol. Tons of boats tho of all sizes so get a mid sized one I think and it would make it seem like you have lots of room. For sure brushless to....also for sure they wont complain you running a boat in there?

thats a nice lil pond to run one in, a trailer would be a must have to hook up to the honcho or wk to pull the boat down there with. that would be the cats ass.

as far as them allowing you to, well id have to say ask someone, but honestly with you going the electric route i wouldnt think much of a problem, now nitro might grab someones attention and maybe complain a bit of the noise.

good luck with your decision of which one to get, with so many to choose from id have a hard time also.

Surprisingly, electric boats make a fair amount of noise.
And since I'm moving in without being added to the lease I'm not gonna rush out and announce myself to the housing authorities.

This is what I'm looking to get...

I figure if I keep my boating during daytime hours and/or weekends, I don't think it'll be much of a problem.
Who knows, maybe I get some neighbors interested.

Yeah, it looks pretty decent on a 6cell so I'm happy with that.
I can use my cheapo Radio Shack 3300's that charge in 20-25min so this could be an all-day thing.

Hey Spliff that thing looks killer. Wow is it fast. Might be a great addition to the rc's you got. Just be carefull dealing with people with a bad track record. Make sure it ships first and then release the cash after it arrives since he has the bad rep,not you. Always thought a boat would be kool to have just always been a wheeled RC guy.lol Also I got a friend who has a RC boat. Only prob I know he had was it dieing out in the middle of the pond. His solution was a fishing pole with a tennis ball on the end tossed out on the pond over the boat and slowly realed into shore. Looks like a nice new place you are moving into. Good Luck and have fun.l8r,w.

Yeah, I don't have a canoe or anything and definitely not gonna be swimming for it. A lot of boat guys have a lil cheapo "rescue boat". I'm gonna look around for something, probably hit up walmart or if I can find one at a decent price, get a tugboat. I saw one video where these guys had a cheap boat with what looked like tongue depressors (big fat popcicle sticks) mounted to the sides of the hull at the bow which made them cross over each other. It made like, little arms to make pushing the dead boat back to shore much easier.

The black/green boat is a Shockwave 26, what I'm looking to get. Dunno what the yellow one is that flips but the rescue boat makes an appearance about 1:15
...or it's just totally visible in the video's thumbnail thing
